Dr. Kenneth (Ken) J. Cavallari grew up in Long Island, New York. He attended undergraduate college at St. Johns University (Queens, NY) and completed his dental studies at the State University of New York at Stony Brook in 1992 where he received the Annual Student Award of the American Academy of Periodontology. Dr. Cavallari then went on to complete his post-graduate training in Periodontics and Dental Implants at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1994.
Dr. Cavallari has been in the private practice of periodontics and dental implants in the Tidewater area since 1994. He received his board certification in periodontics in 2001 and is recognized as a Diplomate of the American Academy of Periodontics. That same year he also became a Diplomate of the International Congress of Oral Implantology and is currently active in both organizations.
Dr. Cavallari has been very active in the dental community as well. He is a past president of the Virginia Beach dental study club, current leader of his own professional study club and has given and hosted numerous dental seminars and lectures over his professional career. Dr. Cavallari is recognized as one of the leading authorities in implant dentistry in our community as well as a pioneer in the use of minimally invasive surgical techniques for both bone and soft-tissue grafting.
In addition to his wife Kim, Dr. Cavallari has three children (Michael, Ashley, and Kate) as well as two grandchildren (William and Riley). He owes much of his success to Kim as well as his mother Gloria, a single mom who raised him by herself and selflessly helped put him through college and graduate school. His mom now resides in Virginia Beach where he is able to help pay back all those years of sacrifice.
